The rear decklid opens to reveal a 200cc Buffalo single that was factory rated at 6.5 horsepower and is mated to a single-speed transmission with a reverse. An electric starter key is positioned on the right along with an engine cut-off button and controls for the turn signals, lights, and horn. To remove the soft top and still use a hardtop you will need to cut the soft top frame with an angle grinder or seawall. To resew it, I had to debond the glass to get access to the stiching and then resew it, then reglue in the glass. The 911-style dashboard features faux gauges and air vents as well as a three-spoke steering wheel with a Cougar-branded center hub. There is a plastic frame sewn into the cloth and the window glues to that. Forward and reverse are selected via a floor-mounted shifter with a wood shift knob, with a handbrake positioned between the seats. The cockpit features seats upholstered in vinyl with faux stitching along with black door panels, a floor mat, and a faux boot cover. The steel chassis is finished in black and is fitted with independent suspension, while stopping power is via a drum brake mounted on the rear axle. White-painted 8″ steel wheels wear bias-ply tires. The kart measures 106” long by 49.5” wide. Faux rally lights are affixed to the hood, and additional features include a faux front underside protection panel, a side mirror, and “1000 Pistes Canjuers” event race numbers, The headlights can be seen in operation in the gallery below.
